prefect site: layout

Name: Speak and Be Heard: Don't Let Doubt Stop You (version 3)

Comment: The third layout designed for SMK USJ 12's official prefect board website/web portal. It should be noted that I have free rein over most of the layouts I design for the prefect board - the only conditions being that the layouts are clean and businesslike, and that they must have themes relevant to issues + values in the prefect board. This time, I decided to convey the problem of freedom of speech some prefects have; hence the title of the design ("Speak and Be Head") as well as the speaker/boombox in the header image.

This layout is a single-column, content-heavy layout, with an image map at the top and the text-version of the navigation at the footer. Previously, the site had two-column layouts (sidebar at the left), but that had to be changed due to the heavy revamps done to the content at the same time this layout was put up.

I didn't have any particular reason for selecting purple - other than the fact that the site had not yet had a purple layout. However, the greys in the layout symbolise the not clear-cut ("grey") areas in the realm of freedom of speech (no one can tell whether this freedom is a good or bad thing - it's not set in black and white!)
